Overbury explores office impact on staff

A team of workplace experts will explore how the location of offices and the facilities provided can have a major effect on employee morale and productivity during an event in Birmingham this month.

The free to attend event, ‘Relocation – investing in your greatest asset: your staff’, is being held jointly by Eleven Brindleyplace and fit out specialist Overbury on June 22.

Speakers include Claire Williams from Boss Design who will be sharing her expertise on how the workplace environment impacts those working in it. Overbury’s Joe Huddleston will demonstrate how the fit out and design directly impacts recruitment and retention.

Colliers will provide an update on the local property market and showcase how choosing the right space to support both corporate and staff growth has been a success for them.

Joe Huddleston, of Overbury’s Birmingham-based Central team, said: “Recruitment and retention are top of the list of priorities for most CEOs, with research suggesting that staffing costs account for more than 80% of a business’s overheads. This event has been designed to demonstrate just how important the location and design of a working environment can be for staff.”

Matt Long, of Colliers, said: “It’s no secret that grade A office space is at a premium in Birmingham at the moment, but that does not mean there are not opportunities for businesses of all sizes in the city centre. It is important for employers to realise just how great an effect location can have, not only on current staff but potential new employees too.”

Jonathan Lawes, of Cube Real Estate, asset manager of Eleven Brindleyplace, said: “We’re delighted that this event on the importance of people-centred design is taking place in Brindleyplace – the perfect example of a city centre development which focuses on people and provides an environment for them to work, meet and socialise all year round.”

Overbury - Joe Huddlestone‘Relocation – investing in your greatest asset: your staff’ will take place at Eleven Brindleyplace on Wednesday 22 June from 7:45am.
